You Deserve A Lover

My friend and I were out the other evening, enjoying drinks on a patio when a waiter came up to us, exclaiming his excitement for my friend’s T-shirt, which had a large image of Frida Kahlo on it. He continued his excitement, practically throwing his phone at my friend, “You must read this poem, Frida is amazing. I love her!” Besides knowing she was a Mexican artist, I knew very little about who Frida Kahlo was. The poem my friend read aloud, clearly shows she had talents in other areas, very moving for both of us, beautifully written. Thought I would share.

“You deserve a lover that wants you dishevelled, with everything and all the reasons that wake you up in a haste, with everything and the demons that won’t let you sleep.

You deserve a lover that makes you feel safe, who can consume this world whole if he walks hand in hand with you; someone who believes that his embraces are a   perfect match with your skin.

You deserve a lover that wants to dance with you, who goes to paradise every time he looks into your eyes and never gets tired of studying your expressions.

You deserve a lover that listens when you sing, who supports you when you feel shame and respects your freedom; that accompanies you when you fly and isn’t afraid to fall.

You deserve a lover that takes away the lies and brings you hope, coffee, and poetry.”

Love this! Discovering this poem was no accident; in fact, maybe it was synchronicity, the universe works in mysterious ways. A poem brought to our attention because of a Tshirt, and the waiter just happened to have a message he needed to share. It’s a small example of what might come your way if you keep yourself open to the many beautiful possibilities.
