Love, Sex, Dreams…do I have your attention?

Thanks to A$AP Rocky, I’m obsessed with this song, finding myself googling the lyrics and hitting the play button, again and again.

“know I dream about her all day
I think about her with her clothes off”

A$AP Rocky is rapping about a woman whom he has evident feelings for, addicted to her like a drug. Love, sex and dreams, our subconscious bringing our fantasies into a euphoric state, needing another hit and craving more…Is sharing a connection with another person comparable to the psychedelic effects of LSD?  Is there such a thing as too much love, sex, dreams?

“Make no mistakes, it’s all a leap of faith for love
It takes a place in feelin’ that you crave doin’ love, sex, dreams”

Just as there are risks with LSD, we also take risks in love.  There are no guarantees, following our hearts like fools jumping out of reality and into an unconscious state, expecting our own ideas of perfection in love, sex, dreams.

“Dreamin’ of sharin’ love
My tongue at a loss for words
‘Cause my feelings just said it all”

Dreams of sharing love with another person is an overwhelming emotion. Sometimes it’s difficult to express your feelings. While emotions run high, it’s ok to suppress your words, because “[your] feelings just said it all.”

“We make love under pretty lights, LSD (Acid)
I get a feelin’ it’s a trippy night”

Tripping in my own way with this song, makes me realize where I am with my own emotions, taking risks and craving a connection with someone. Is there grey area between loving and addiction.

“I look for ways to say, “I love you”
But I ain’t into makin’ love songs
Baby, I’m just rappin’ to this LSD”

Does it matter if you don’t hear the words “l love you?” Can we get past it and feel the love (drug) instead. Too many times, the words get in the way, when all we need is a feeling, “dreamin’ of sharin’ love” LSD…
