Did everyone watch the Golden Globes? I especially loved the red carpet and those gowns! There were a lot of great speeches that night but the one that resonated with me was the acceptance speech given by Glenn Close. Who doesn’t remember it, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience…
“I feel what I’ve learned this whole experience is that women, you know, we’re nurturers, that’s what’s expected of us. We have our children, we have our husbands if we’re lucky enough and our partners, whoever. But we have to find personal fulfilment. We have to follow our dreams. We have to say, I can do that and I should be allowed to do that.”
Love it! So beautifully said and honestly I couldn’t agree more. As women, we fall into our roles by default and carry this pressure to do everything for our families, a lot of times, forgetting about ourselves. What are “we” as women passionate about, what gets us up in the morning besides our alarm clocks, who are we and what is our purpose? I’m confident that all of you are asking yourselves this right now. I love my family, they are a huge part of my life but they don’t define who I am.
I am me, I come with my own set of dreams, hopes and ambitions. I want the best thing for me as all of you wish for yourselves. For some of us, it will take some work to figure out what this might be, for others, they have been on this path for a while. There is no finish line, start something new that excites you or makes you feel whole and like you again.
Don’t let fear get in the way of your greatness, be your most authentic self and remind yourself that you can do that and you should be allowed to do that because no one else will.

“Don’t let fear get in the way of your Greatness”. LL, my fave line. Many times fear is what is holding us back. xo
