When Travel Becomes an Experience
Every once in a while, I hear about a fabulous resort or destination that sounds more like an experience than an actual place. Since travelling for a year, my travel radar seems permanently switched on. Especially while we were away—meeting people and swapping stories—there was always some incredible place being recommended, and lots of notes being taken.
Instagram has become a huge source of inspiration for discovering unique stays, and my friend ChatGPT always has a few good ideas up its sleeve. (Just remember to fact-check.) Travelling in the off-season also helps stretch your dollars further—always a bonus when luxury is involved.
Planning a Family Escape
Planning a holiday with my sons, however, is a whole different adventure. With their busy schedules, it often feels like herding cats. Still, I thought maybe we could carve out a week (next year!), and plan a little escape together, but where? So, naturally, I did a bit of daydreaming…
The Day Dream Begins
The Belmond Royal Scotsman
When it comes to drinking Scotch, I’m definitely late to the party—call me a late bloomer. But I’ve always been a Bourbon girl. Somehow, I’ve recently acquired a taste for this iconic whiskey. And since Scotch hails from Scotland, wouldn’t it be fun to explore “Ye old world of the Scots”?
That’s when I came across The Belmond Royal Scotsman Malt Whisky Tour, a luxurious rail adventure (yes, as in the Orient Express) through Scotland’s most breathtaking landscapes, paired with immersive whisky experiences. Sounds amazing already, right? The trip begins in Edinburgh with a welcome dram and five-star dining, as you travel through mountains, Highland villages, and make exclusive visits to iconic distilleries such as Glenmorangie, Tullibardine, and Tomatin. The names alone sound mysterious, hinting at centuries of history and craftsmanship.
Included are expert-led tastings, behind-the-scenes tours, and single-cask samplings (yes, please!) that deepen your appreciation of Scotch whisky. Off-train excursions let you explore everything from historic estates to outdoor adventures in the Cairngorms. Evenings are filled with formal dinners (any excuse to dress up), live music, and Scottish traditions, making the journey as much about the culture as the whisky itself.

Lazuli Nile Cruise
Egypt has always been on my list: pyramids, tombs, palm trees, and that sense of mystery that feels timeless. But drifting down the Nile—along the same waters once travelled by pharaohs—now that would be an unforgettable adventure.
I stumbled upon Lazuli Nile Cruises on Instagram and was immediately obsessed. This isn’t your ordinary cruise—designed for small groups of 10-20 guests aboard a traditional dahabiya (a luxury, slow-moving river yacht), it offers an intimate, relaxing way to sail the Nile. The itineraries focus on historical destinations and quieter, more intimate stops, with evenings often ending in candlelit dinners on board.
Guests can choose from multiple itineraries and a fleet of nine beautifully designed dahabiyas, each one as stunning as the next (how do you choose?), blending timeless elegance with modern comfort.
And as the evening approaches, I can already imagine my Cleopatra-style eyeliner in the glow of the candlelight, feeling — just for a moment — as if I might actually be queen of the river. A girl can dream, right? 🌙 😍

Monaco Formula 1 Race
You can’t get more iconic than Monaco—the glamour, the glitz, and, of course, the legendary Grand Prix. There’s something about a city where luxury yachts line the harbour, the Mediterranean sparkles, and the world’s fastest cars fly through the narrow streets. Experiencing the Monaco Grand Prix isn’t just watching a race; it’s stepping into a world of high speed, style, and pure indulgence.
So what would that look like? Well…I could imagine staying at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo (obviously), waking up in a suite with a balcony overlooking the track, champagne in hand, as the engines roar below. And for a little less opulence, the Fairmont Monte Carlo (it’s not quite camping), perched right on the famous hairpin bend, where you can feel the excitement of the race from your private terrace.
As the sun dips into the ocean, Monaco doesn’t slow down — it only shifts gears 😉. The harbour comes alive with music from superyachts, and the streets buzz with well-dressed crowds spilling out of bars and rooftop lounges.
This. Would. Be. A blast!

Airelles Château de Versailles
Ah, yes — this is for the king and queen at heart. A one-night stay (or longer), where you can quite literally wave to your imaginary subjects… or simply surrender to being utterly pampered. I only recently heard about Airelles Château de Versailles, and honestly, calling it a “hotel” feels almost insulting. The property backs onto Versailles — let me say that again — it backs onto Versailles. Which means you’re there after the crowds have gone, with private, after-hours access to the palace. Wandering through the Hall of Mirrors or Marie Antoinette’s Trianon Estate at dusk feels like stepping into another century.
And the indulgence doesn’t stop there — the dining is Michelin-starred, led by Chef Alain Ducasse, where every meal feels like it’s been designed for royalty. Even waking up can be an event: you can choose to be gently roused with a few drops of the signature Airelles fragrance at the foot of your bed (as one does), or ease into the morning in whatever equally decadent way you prefer. For me, this would be beyond thrilling — deliciously eerie and exciting all at once. Would you see ghosts? It certainly feels like you might… don’t you think? 👑

Last but not least
Four Seasons Private Jet Vacations
This, my friends, is next level. Four Seasons Private jet vacations are the ultimate getaway— the kind I can only dream about. But dreaming is half the fun, right? Travelling by private jet and staying exclusively at Four Seasons properties around the world… this is luxury at its absolute best.
These are just a glimpse of the exceptional itineraries, or you can curate a dream escape entirely your own:
Ancient Explorers (travel to Miami, Mexico City, Easter Island, Bora Bora, Great Barrier Reef, Bangkok, Amman and The Lost City of Petra, Taormina, Madrid)

OR
Asia Unveiled (travel to Tokyo, Bali, Angkor Wat, Hoi An, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangkok)

OR
World of Wellness (travel to Singapore, Koh Samui, Maldives, Taormina, Marrakech, Nevis, Mexico City, Maui)

So yes, I’ll keep daydreaming about private jets, Cleopatra eyeliner on the Nile, and Versailles after-hours. But for now, a week away with my sons—exploring, laughing, maybe even arguing over where to eat—is enough to remind me that the greatest adventures don’t always need a five-star rating. And of course, I’ll keep you posted on where and when we land next!
Whether it’s a luxury bucket-list trip or a simple escape with loved ones, travel isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the stories, the laughter, and the memories you bring home.
What’s on your bucket list?
