Initially, we hadn’t planned to visit Cassis. However, after reading more about this picture-perfect fishing port, and its reputation as the prettiest coastal town in Provence, we felt compelled to explore.

We travelled for an hour and 40 minutes from Cotignac to Cassis. Immediately after exiting the highway, we found ourselves surrounded by vineyards, flanked by enormous cliffs, and the sparkling blue ocean visible in the distance. We were excited to see more.

Cassis is a lively port where fresh fish is available directly from the docks. We strolled along, observing the activities around us, eventually making our way into the town, admiring the pretty surrounding streets.

There are plenty of restaurants to choose from, and since you’re in a fishing port, take this opportunity to sample the abundant fresh seafood. Annnd while you’re at it, consider a chilled glass (or bottle) of white wine to complement your meal. Cassis is known for its delicate white wines, which I highly recommend. It is a perfect match that will surely satisfy your taste buds. Delicious!

The streets are filled with beautiful flowers…so pretty!

It was a scorching hot day in Cassis, so ending our trip at the beach was a welcome relief from the heat. I couldn’t wait to take a dip in the water to cool off.

We had a wonderful day trip to Cassis. It truly lives up to its reputation as one of Provence’s prettiest coastal towns and picture-perfect fishing ports. I guess you could say that Cassis was quite the catch!
