For all of your burning questions on where to eat and drink…
It’s taken me a while to find my latest go-to spots for Eats and Drinks. Not because I’m indecisive, it’s just that there are so many great places!
First, because let’s face it, we’re not all ordering the same thing, especially when it comes to drinks. I love to cook, and so I appreciate a little effort when it comes to a meal. I’m not after Michelin stars. However, I do crave delicious food made by chefs who genuinely care, not those who half-heartedly toss things on a plate and call it “deconstructed.”
Also—and I’ll be frank—I’m not here for endless small bites or dainty shared plates that leave me hungry and Googling the nearest pizza joint. A) I refuse to keep paying $$ just to chase fullness, and B) those “just a few small plates” always seem to add up to one big, expensive regret. My answer? Grab a couple of bites and drinks, enjoy the atmosphere, then head somewhere you know you’ll leave full and happy.
Saint-Germain-des-Prés
Les Antiquitaires, I love this spot—it’s been my go-to since I first discovered it in 2017. Technically, not a new find, but definitely worth mentioning. The menu has plenty of variety, so there’s truly something for everyone—even your pickiest travel buddy. And the duck? Perfectly cooked, beautifully plated, and just the right amount of delicious.

Les Comptoir des Saints-Peres, Located just across the street from Sciences Po, this unassuming bistro caters to students and professors, which means the prices are surprisingly reasonable for such a high-end neighbourhood. Don’t let the simplicity fool you—the food here is legit. Generous salads, low-key ambiance, and they actually know how to make a proper cocktail—rare enough in Paris to deserve applause 🍸👏

Bar Josephine, After a day of shopping at Le Bon Marché (or just surviving the streets of Paris), Bar Joséphine is the perfect spot to unwind—or celebrate a new handbag, because yes, you deserve it! Elegant, effortless, and part of the iconic Lutetia Hotel, it’s the kind of place where even small celebrations feel special.

Le Recamier, If you’ve never tried a soufflé, start here. Light, airy, and perfectly served, the savoury options (I had the truffle) are just as dreamy as the sweet varieties. On a cool evening, it feels like the ultimate cozy Parisian meal, though the menu also has other French classics to round out your experience.

Canal Saint Martin
La Marine, located on the Canal Saint-Martin, is perfect for people-watching with a glass of wine or a casual meal. The food is classic, comforting, and consistently good — we loved it so much, it quickly became one of our regular Paris spots.

Champs-Élysées, 8th arrondissement
L’Alsace, Right on the Champs-Élysées, is a classic Parisian brasserie that’s perfect when you’re craving something traditional in the middle of all the action. Best known for seafood towers, oysters, and all the French brasserie favourites. It feels a bit grand without being stuffy. After a stroll down the Champs, it’s exactly the kind of place to settle into for a glass of wine and a proper meal—especially when so many restaurants at this address are overpriced and underwhelming.

Le Marais
Le Petit Marche, a stone’s throw from Place des Vosges, and is owned by the same folks behind Chez Janou (if you know, you know). Cozy and full of warm energy. The food is French with a twist—dishes like duck (yes, I have a thing for duck), with caramelized bananas and figs, tuna tartare, and perfectly grilled Entrecote, all beautifully prepared. It’s casual yet special, the kind of place that feels like a neighbourhood favourite every time.

Chez Hanna, in the Marais is a spot I’ve been coming back to for years, and it never disappoints. While the competition down the street always has a long line, I’d choose Chez Hanna every time. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming, and the food is consistently delicious—falafel, shawarma, hummus, and all the fresh sides that keep me coming back again and again. The owners are there every day, making sure everyone feels looked after, which gives the place a truly authentic, personal touch.

Bastille
Petit Bao is a lively spot that quickly became a favourite during our visit. The food is a fresh, modern take on Asian cuisine that really stands out. Coming from Vancouver, where Asian food is top-notch, I was pleasantly surprised—Petit Bao did not disappoint. The energy is great, it’s the kind of place you want to return to more than once.

Paris is overflowing with fantastic food, but these are some of the spots that keep me coming back—places that balance flavour, atmosphere, good value, and great energy. Whether you’re craving classic French comfort, Middle Eastern favourites, or inventive Asian bites, these go-to spots deliver every time. Try them out on your next trip and let me know what you think.
Enjoy!
