So…I Wrote A Book

Seriously

I still can’t quite believe I’m writing these words, but here it is: I wrote a book. What started as scattered notes, late-night thoughts, and a “someday” dream has grown into a real manuscript. It’s messy, honest, sometimes hilarious, sometimes vulnerable—and now it’s making its way into the world. At least that’s my attempt.

I’ve always said, “If I just finish writing this, I’ll be happy.” Well, guess what? I am more than happy—I’m elated and so proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone and completing something that felt nearly impossible at times.

I’m actually doing this!!

That said, I couldn’t wait to savour the moment and celebrate. And since we were living in Paris, what better place than the iconic Hemingway Bar at the Ritz? I wasn’t worrying about next steps. I was simply letting myself be proud—and imagining all the authors before me who might have raised a glass here, celebrating their own milestones in the very same spot. After all, the bar is named Hemingway for a reason 😉

But finishing the book was only the beginning. Now, I’m diving headfirst into the world of book proposals. And let me tell you—this part is no joke. I thought writing the book was tough, but proposals? 🤦🏻‍♀️ That’s a whole new language. TOC (Table of Contents)? Query letters? Promotion and marketing plans? Who knew!

It’s daunting, yes, but also exciting. Each new term, each new step, brings me closer to getting my story out into the world.

Usually in life, when you finish something, you know what comes next, right? So, here I was, having written a book, and then I thought, now what? Enter Richelle Fredson—book proposal coach and publishing aficionado. The universe works in mysterious ways, and it took me several steps to find her. But I’m so happy I did.

If you’ve got a great book idea and no clue where to begin, trust me —she’s your person!

In the meantime

I’m trying to stay focused after coming back from a year away, but it’s tough. These days, there are plenty of distractions, all of them good. However, I need to get my act together! And yes, sometimes I wish someone could just do this part for me, but I know it’s up to me to accomplish this on my own. Taking my own advice, don’t be afraid to do hard things.

Anyway, I’ll keep you in the loop on my progress on this chapter (pun intended 😉).

Stay tuned!

Wow! You should be incredibly proud. What a wonderful example you are setting for those who have not yet reached their “someday”.
