Essentially, I'm your friend down the street who started blogging, and then life threw lemons (AKA Divorce), and suddenly I found myself here, talking to you!

Well, here goes…

It’s Rob.

A quick hello from the one Llorea calls “My guy,” “Him,” and a handful of other nicknames like “Diego,” “Martini,” and, more recently, “TikTok,” “Awww Muffin,” and “Roberto.”

A little about me

I’m a bit of an anomaly—a numbers guy, a business guy, a strategist; I speak four languages fluently, a bit of a goof, but serious enough when I need to be! I like to say tall, dark, and handsome, not that tall, not that dark, ha-ha. And yes, I like my martinis, especially the dirty ones!

Lucky guy?

And now, I’ve somehow managed to “catch a ride” on Llorea’s one-year bucket-list journey as we explore a few countries together in Europe for an extended stay. Truth be told, I think she mostly wants me here as her official photographer—but hey, I’m more than happy to oblige. We’re both in our element here, though keeping up with her energy and creativity isn’t always easy! But I’m making the most of it—and even nudging her along from time to time. Together, we’ve got endless stories and plenty of laughter to go around.

Making plans

We’re now four weeks into our journey, and the plan for the year is really coming together nicely. Our goal is mostly long stays—usually a month or more—to settle in, feel like locals, and savour the places we’re in. We’re already developing routines, finding favourite coffee spots, and markets, and, yes, even joined a gym in Paris.

We’re starting with a few months here in Paris (with a quick escape to the Maldives and December’s holiday season in London). Then we’re heading to Málaga for a bit of winter warmth. After that, we’re off to southern Italy and will spend some extended time in Provence, the Languedoc region, and the surrounding areas. Eventually, we’ll circle back to Paris for three months, using it as our base to explore by train wherever the mood takes us.

As for me?

I’m adjusting to the allure of French charm—though not so much the cigarette smoke! But my favourite lady, of course, is right here with me.”

Until she pushes me to write again…

Salut, Rob!
