Essentially, I'm your friend down the street who started blogging, and then life threw lemons (AKA Divorce), and suddenly I found myself here, talking to you!

Finally! We’re saying bye-bye to one badass year. I might add that we barely made it to the other side. It was challenging. Surreal comes to mind, and if I could have, I would have hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to reboot and restart the new year sooner.

I’m exhausted just thinking about everything we’ve postponed, cancelled, delayed, didn’t do, reinvented and compromised to survive the strict rules of Covid. It sucked!

The holidays were quiet, as to be expected. I was fortunate to have both my boys home with me; sadly, my 98-year-old mother was not allowed to join us, nor would I want to put her at risk. So instead, it was a weird visit with her at the senior’s home through a glass window. Yep, my boys and I were on one side, while my mother was on the other, equipped with an Ipad for audio.

We laughed at how silly it felt; it was beyond ridiculous. You could imagine the jokes and comments, “How long have you got in the slammer?” Not in a million years would I have guessed that the three of us would wish my mother, a Merry Christmas through a window?! She’s a good sport. Seriously though, my mom is 98; she doesn’t have a lot of Christmas’ left in her, leaving me sad in the end. I know we’re all making sacrifices, and this is a small one in the future. I would rather she be safe in her community than the possibility of being exposed to Covid.

Not to dwell, but this holiday season goes down as the quietest to date. So, yes, a part of me was missing the social scene, dinner and drinks with friends, champagne brunches with the girls, and that overall festive feeling you get this time of year. But guess what? It wasn’t a bust; we made the best of a crazy situation, which was awesome.

I certainly didn’t miss the holiday crazy. And you all know what I’m talking about. Trying to do too much, spending too much, and eating and drinking too much!! I can’t confirm or deny eating and drinking too much, but overall it was a very chill holiday, and I loved it! Hanging out with my boys and my guy was the best!

Ringing in the new year couldn’t come fast enough. Let’s git-er done! With essential travel rules only, my guy and I decided to get the hell out of dodge. We were ringing in the new year at our home away from home on Savary Island. It was our first time experiencing our little cabin during storm season. Holy Moly, it was one hell of a storm, and 2020 was leaving in a huff. We weathered the storm barely. We did it somehow, but enough! Time to take our lives back and kick 2020’s ass bye-bye!!

Let’s hope we experience calmer weather ahead, and here’s to a brighter 2021.

Happy New Year!
